Sophomore plays the harp in the symphonic orchestra

A harpist playing at South is a rare sight. It is something we get to have playing in our symphonic orchestra.

TJ: How did you start master harp playing?

AF: I thought it sounded really pretty when I was little and I always wanted to play harp so when I got the chance I took it.

TJ: When was the first time you played with an orchestra?

AF: I’ve never actually played in an orchestra before.

TJ: When was your first time being first chair in an orchestra?

AF: That was my eighth grade year where I was first chair.

TJ: If you were first chair then why don’t you think you’re good enough as you told me earlier?

AF: Because I want to make sure I sound accurate. Something along those lines

TJ: On a side note, have long have you been violin Jeesus?

AF: From a very young age I always knew I was violin Jeesus.

TJ: Who inspired you to play the harp?

AF: I wasn’t really inspired to play the harp. I always thought it sounded like angels and I wanted to sound like an angel.

TJ: When did you start realizing you were good at playing harp?

AF:Two years ago.

TJ: Who first told you you were good at playing harp?

AF: That was my harp teacher. She wanted me to play for the middle school orchestra.

TJ: Have you ever composed music before?

AF: I have once but it didn’t really work out. I’ve made up music off the top of my mind with a cello player.

TJ: Do you still have the song you composed?

AF: I don’t but if I were to come up with something off the top of my mind then that’d be great because I’d actually like to write the music this time.

TJ: Have you considered going to a symphony?

AF: Yeah but I don’t know where. Although I’m in a harp ensemble which is kind of something.

TJ: If you were to join a symphony, what instrument would you play?

AF: If I had to choose, I’d pick my violin because I’ve been playing that a lot longer.

TJ: Where would you go to be in a symphony?

AF: When I get older, I want to go to Julliard and join their symphony.

TJ: Is music all you want to do in life?

AF: I want to be a therapist to help people out.

TJ: Why do you want to be a therapist?

AF: I’ve had a lot of suffering in my life and I don’t want anyone to feel the ways that I did.Tai Jones
