15 Questions with Hope Nasse
Struggling with the balance of school, dance and her overall lifestyle, Freshman Hope Nasse is constantly on her toes.
MP-How long have you been dancing?
HN- I’ve been dancing since fifth grade so I guess that’s about four years now.
MP-How has dancing impacted your life?
HN- It’s taken a large portion of my life that’s for sure and it calms me down.
MP-Do you have any life goals and is dancing one of them?
HN- I want to dance professionally and be a teacher someday or open my own dance studio.
MP-Do you have any close friends in your dance studio? What is it like dancing with them?
HN- I Usually hang out with Bree Katz and Kira Foster, and its fun to have friends to dance with because it gives you a litte more competition and gives you someone to talk to.
MP-Who are your idols in your life?
HN-I’m gonna say Lady gaga, she’s a personal idol right there. And my Mamoo, Sue Nasse.
MP-Is Drill team different from your dance?How so?
HN-Yes it is a lot different. I feel like at my studio we are a lot more professional and strict, and in Drill Team it’s more like cheerleading.
MP-Out of all the dance styles which do you prefer and what dance style do you want to learn?
HN-I really love contemporary, and I really want to try hiphop even if I suck.
MP-Are there any conflicts with your team in dance?
HN- I really love contemporary, and I really want to try hiphop even if I suck.
Yes yes there is. They can be a little competitive at times and sometimes they are annoying.
MP-How long did it take for you to achieve perfect pointed toes for dance?
HN- I’m still working on it, that’s how long it’s taken me. I’ve been in dance for 4 years and I still can’t point in dance. I’m getting to it though.
MP-Have you ever thought about giving up, if so what was the cause?
HN- Ya I thought about giving up when my regular studio closed because they had no money. I was like well if I can’t dance here I won’t dance. It was where my favorite teachers were and my friends were too.
MP-Is there a balance between school and dance? If so how?
HN- I don’t there is no balance. I choose sleep, or dance, or school everyday and it’s that’s basically it.
MP-Does dance affect your grades in school and do they in a good or bad way?
HN- ha-ha sometimes mostly in a bad way. The classes with more homework do because I don’t have time to do homework on some days.
MP-What are you most proud of in dance?
HN- I have come a long way with my emotions. My teachers have told me I am very good at expressing through my facial expressions too.and i’m pretty proud of that.
MP-What goals do you have to improve for dance?
HN- I really want to be able to turn my feet out 180 degrees. And I want to make my arms a lot stronger because they are noodles.
MP-How has dance impacted your family life?
HN- I don’t see them a lot on some days because i’m at dance all the time. It stresses my mom out because she has to drive me everywhere it’s a lot of work for her.
