With college on the horizon for many students, South is hosting a College and Career Ready Night to help with kid’s worries. Future Focus Fiesta will be Monday, Oct. 16, so that students have a resource to guide them through the financial assistance process, specifically the Free Application for Federal Student Aid program (FAFSA).

“It was mainly created so we can create a space for our parents and our students to learn about financial aid because it is really complicated process. We’re just kinda here to give them the information to make informed decisions and just to give help with FAFSA, because FAFSA can be a little difficult if you’ve never done it before,” college adviser Jasmine Morgan said.

Students and parents will be provided with Mexican cuisine for dinner at no cost. Additionally, bilingual representatives will attend as yet another source of information for students seeking help.

“There’s going to be college representatives and community organizations there as well to talk to students and parents about college and different organizations and what those organizations offer,” Morgan said.

This year’s Future Focus Fiesta is the second of its kind and is projected to be even more successful than last year’s.

“Last year was the beginning, it was the first year of it, and it went really well. There were a lot of parents and students who attended, and so we’re really excited about this year, and hopefully we get more students and families that come again,” Morgan said.

Future Focus Fiesta will begin at 5:30 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. in the cafeteria.
