Shawnee Mission South girls tennis team lost Monday night’s tennis match against Blue Valley Northwest. South played well but lost 11-7.

“They were really good, I feel like all the Blue Valley schools are really good, but it was a good match it was 6-8 so we were really close.” Sophomore Olivia Riley said.

It is Olivia’s second year playing tennis at South. She is on the varsity team.

“We can definitely can improve on both of us playing at the net because we always hit it into the net but we played well we had some good serves.” Junior Taylor Burns said.

South fought hard and were good competitors against Northwest. Even though they lost the girls were still happy to be a part of the team.

We won in a tiebreaker so it was a close match we were at 7-7 then we won the tiebreaker 7-1. We like playing together and we love the whole team and the community in the team.” Sophomores Mary Novack and Madison Hannah said.

The next match is the JV match on Monday October 1, at the Marty courts against Gardner at 3:30. Be sure to go support the girls’ tennis team.
