The Pacesetters annual spring show extravaganza is back again. This year it is in the auditorium on Friday, April 18.
“The extravaganza is the main point in the season where I get to really express my personal creativity through choreography,” senior Molly McCracken said.
The extravaganza is the last show for Pace and is run by the 19 students on the team. They do everything from the choreography to picking the theme. Pace started practicing after their last competition in early March during their first hour class. In this year’s show, there will be a multitude of genres including mostly jazz, tap, hip hop, musical theater and lyrical.
“I am looking forward to Katie and Eliana whipped into shape musical dance because we get to use jump ropes,” freshmen Jayden Latham said.
The only difference this year is they don’t have a coach to help them. They instead have their sponsor Rachel Bravence and athletic director Mark Mahoney along with McCracken who is in charge of everything a coach would do. These three people are helping with costuming, designing the program, the posters, coordinating with theater, and more.
“It’s definitely been a lot more like difficult to navigate this year because not having a coach at every practice but I feel like we’ve really leaned into our seniors,” sophomore Leah Davis said.
Even though the Pacesetters have had some changes during their season, they still hope to perform a great show. The show will be the last dance for McCracken and other seniors Katie Hull, Miranda Zimmerman, Molly McCracken, Anne Hance and Amaya Brimm. These seniors have given all of them to dance and to being a part of the Pacesetters.
“For me [pace] it’s my like creative outlet, my emotional outlet. It’s my performance outlet. It kind of it like fuels my soul in a way that, like not all other activities do. And it’s really sad leaving but I do also feel ready to go at the same time like I feel like I had my time here and I’m ready for something new, but I’m obviously, I’m just gonna miss it,” McCracken said.
The extravaganza is free to students with an ID and parents for only $10. You can use cash, card, or venmo to pay. Go show up and show out for your lady raider Pacesetter dance team.
