Entering the Danger Zone

Top Gun is the greatest movie of all time. It brought together a nation by making every single person in America want to wear aviator shades, while the mourned the loss of an American icon, made every girl want to date a fighter pilot, and showed us unforgettable characters. The star of the movie, Maverick (played by Tom Cruise), lives life on the edge, he goes through life in the “Danger Zone, and has unpredictable flying style that was caused by the loss of his father.

Some people think that Maverick’s style will get him killed out on the front line, “Son, your ego is writing checks your body can’t cash,” Stinger says to Maverick, he doesn’t care though all he cares about is scoring chicks, rockin aviator shades, and his partner Goose (Anthony Edwards).

Although he may not be as famous as Maverick, Goose is an American icon. He is the ultimate team player. He’s not only OK being second in command to Maverick even though he has that mustache that just commands respect from everybody he meets. Although they have two separate styles, Goose and Maverick combine to make the ultimate duo. They take down enemy planes and pick up chicks with ease. While the whole time they are reppin for the good ole US of A.

Not only are the characters great but, it also has all of the qualities that make it great. It’s about America the greatest country on earth. And even though it was released in the early nineties, I can still perfectly relate to it. I’m pretty sure most of it was actually based of my life. Maverick is so smooth with the ladies. He first met Charlie Blackwood in a bar and after swaying her with the sweet song of “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling,” she reluctantly goes on a date with him even though she is his flying instructor. Maverick is a stone cold lady killer and she couldn’t resist him, even though he would show her who’s the boss in countless occasions.

Top Gun was such a good movie they recently re-released it in 3-D so kids could see the greatness of this movie. From the iconic scenes, to Tom Cruise in his acting prime, and sweet nicknames this is most definitely the best movie of all time.
