Macabre Cinema Haunted House Review
I kept my eyes open as wide as they could possibly go. I desperately searched for a figure in the darkness. My heart pounded in my chest. My hands latched on to my friend in front on me. We hesitantly stepped through the blackened room, sure something would jump out at us at any time.
Last Friday, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Club made our way downtown to Kansas City’s infamous haunted houses. On our way there, we decided to go to the Macabre Cinema Haunted House at 1222 W 12th St. which featured a variety of horror movie themes throughout. After emptying $29 out of my wallet and getting a glow-in-the-dark hand stamp to confirm I paid my fee, we headed to the line to await our turn. A few monsters and clowns stayed outside to give us a preview of what horrors awaited.
Once inside, we encountered lots of fog, scary creatures and haunting music. The experience lasted between half an hour and 45 minutes. The actors working in the house did a very good job of constantly staying in character and never failed to frighten us at every turn. Horror films such as Psycho, Children of the Corn, and Saw were recreated with extravagant sets.
While expensive, I had so much fun at the Macabre Cinema house. I was frightened, but not to an extreme point. I would definitely recommend this to someone looking for something to do this Halloween season with $29 burning a hole in their pocket.
