Raunchy TV Shows
Current shows have been pushing the boundaries more and more lately. With video streaming services like Netflix and Hulu becoming more popular, it has become easier for new shows to bypass the Film Censorship Association’s laws.
The irony of the matter is that the Film Censorship Association’s, FCA for short, efforts to keep kids away from more grown-up films actually made them more appealing to the younger audience.
“When I was little I use to watch South Park and Family Guy while my parents were out of the room because I would get in trouble for watching them,” senior Kaitlin Murphy said.
With the top shows filled with sex, curse words and violence, it’s easy to spot the contrast between today’s hit shows and the classics.
“I’ve been wanting to watch shows like It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia for a while now,” freshman Tyler Bates said.
Raunchy shows, like South Park and Family Guy, hold a mirror up to social issues using humor to get their point across.
“…shows like Family guy and South Park are satirical and they’ll use a ridiculous way to prove a point about society and thats why some people don’t like them,” Senior Kaitlin Murphy said.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Arrested Development and other cult-hit comedies make people laugh with their raunchy comedy where they want you to hate their main characters because they’re so horrible.
“I don’t watch it [Arrested Development] that much seeing as I don’t have Netflix, but I love it’s jokes and humor. It’s really entertaining,” senior Evan Lavender said.
Although these shows are racist, sexist, and perverted they still make people laugh and are enjoyed all over the place.
“They’re just TV shows with more grotesque humor that makes people laugh,” junior Cadence McGarry said.
