Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. A REVIEW

IT’S A STRATEGY CARD GAME, BUT YOU DON’T HAVE THE PHYSICAL CARDS THEMSELVES. SO I GUESS IT’S AN ELECTRONIC STRATEGY CARD GAME?

Anyways, Hearthstone is a card game which is heavily based upon Blizzard’s game, “World of Warcraft.” It’s easy to pick up and it’s massively fun, quick too!

Hearthstone has a very simple goal.

You pick a deck, you use the cards to defeat your opponent, win.

Sounds easy right?

NO! Hearthstone has numerous different cards, spell cards, minion cards and weapon cards to deal with your opponent with numerous ways. If you’re still not so sure about what to do, the game has a tutorial which is well explained, then again the game isn’t that complicated really. (UNLIKE YU-GI-OH). The tutorial levels have six different levels that teach or introduce players about mechanics and different types of cards.

Once you got your cards set up, you’re going to have to choose which deck you go with. There are nine different decks each all similar to the classes in World of Warcraft , each deck has their own hero to represent the class the player chooses.

Each deck has their own unique ability like boosting armor, healing minions or the hero itself and maybe summon a minion, players can experiment with all the decks to their find their liking,

As you progress your adventure your deck gains experience and as you keep leveling up the deck of your choosing you get different spell cards directed towards the class.

Hearthstone provides basic decks if you don’t want to get all technical with your cards or you just don’t have a lot yet. But collecting cards in Hearthstone can be acquired in three different ways crafting, purchasing and entering The Arena.

Speakin’ of The Arena, Hearthstone has different types of play modes, Casual play, Ranked, Practice and as said earlier the Arena. Casual play is what it sounds like, play for fun with other players matched with your skill level. Ranked play where you start from the lowest of ranks and you make your way to the top by beating down those other nerds and their pathetic cards, or if you’re not ready to beat those nerds you can go practice against AI bots (Which are surprisingly good) and the Arena is somewhat like ranked, but theres a large twist, you make a deck made out of completely random cards and you see how many people can you beat with said random cards. What’s even cool about it you can win gold and cards.

Hearthstone also features quests and an in-game currency, which is called gold, with it players can buy a pack which contains five cards. To acquire gold players are given quests to complete for a small amount of gold. OOOOOOR THERES ALSO… PAYING REAL MONEY FOR A PACK OF CARDS. (WOAAAH) Yes, players can use their own money to acquire cards and expand their decks.

Players can use their hard earned gold, or their real money to purchase packs of cards containing five cards.

Please also take note that Hearthstone is still in beta and many more things are yet to come, also the game is FREE to play, but that doesn’t mean people are gonna follow that principle.

tl;dr it’s fun, easy, and it’s free to play, hella fun with other friends. Quite casual and friendly.
