ABC, Easy as RG3: Where’d They Go?

Avery Dorsey, Staff Writer

The problem as the season has progressed is the draft picks that initially seemed promising either became suspended, benched when starters became healthy again or suffered season ending injuries. My worst of luck has been striking me every which way. I rummage through the waiver wire only to get little to no zero production. Players like Steve Smith and recently Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson played exceptionally well for the first part to only die down in a slump.

Not only are my players in a production slump, so am I. I can’t get a break lately, matching up against the big shots of my league. Every player they own play for high level teams, producing consistently every week no matter what. I try to base my pick ups and drops on recent history and matchups but most the time my risks don’t play out the way I intended. James Jones and Isaiah Crowell are both obvious drops, scoring only a few points each game for their bad teams. One shocking stat was elite wide receiver Jordy Nelson scoring a measly two fantasy points on three receptions for 25 reception yards.

My bad luck only adds more to my sad fantasy football season.  Not much has worked out for me, leaving me to take the wildest of chances, stalking sports updates, picking up back ups immediately when sudden injuries are released.  Coming into week 9, I have Jordy Nelson on a bye week and a depleted running back lineup.

I will pick up Jaguars running back, Denard Robinson who beat out the two running backs to claim the starting role. Another player that I will pick up is running back Ronnie Hillman from the Broncos, who’s playing the Patriot’s subpar rush defense. From the Patriots I will also pick up wide receiver Brandon LaFell, who has really came into the spotlight of New England’s wide receiver core.

Losing by a depressing score of 108-66, I hope to gradually improve. My aim is to sneak into the playoffs and make a cinderella run that nobody will expect. Two of the front runners with just one loss all season are TJ Ball and Evan Howell, who are favorites for the championship. I hope to shatter the confidence of the leaders, similar to last year when I won it all.
