A walk out of Darkness

Jacob Cox, Web Editor

Have you ever thought about making a difference in your community?

Suicide awareness is something that everyone can do to make a difference, you do not need a Degree, or a large amount of money to solve this real world problem. All you need is an open heart and an open mind. The Out of Darkness walk is a fundraising campaign to help stop suicide in the United States. You do not have to walk to be a walker, you can be a “virtual” walker. Being a virtual walker means you support the cause and want to show your support towards the community.

You can set up a personal goal to raise a certain amount of money or have others donate money in your name. All the proceeds go towards the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to help stop suicide and get people the knowledge they need to prevent it from happening even more.

The out of Darkness walk is on October 3rd, 2015 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Berkley Riverfront Park. You can sign up NOW! by going to:

“I think that suicide prevention is very important, it is the 10th leading cause of death and we should not wait for it to go any further, it is clearly a huge issue that can be solved by awareness and education about mental illness.”
