With unfinished business, the Kansas City Royals faced the New York Mets. The last championship title earned by the Royals in 1985, excited fans and with back-to-back appearances in the World Series, the team was able to clench the title of World Champions after 30 years.

As the Royals led the series against the Mets, 3-1, the Royals were ready to play Game 5 and win the series.

The Royols worked day in and day out to reach this position for the second year in a row. As first baseman, Eric Hosmer said in a previous interview, “Last season was just too perfect, we knew it wasn’t going to happen last year, but we worked hard and we finally earned the title.”

Following their win, Tuesday, Nov. 3, the Royals followed a 2.3 mile long parade for the whole city to celebrate. On their own floats, each player waved and celebrated with the parade-goers.

“Royals baseball has give me and my family some of the most fun experiences…together. [It’s] so fun to have an entire city united behind one team,” math teacher Brendan Curran said.

No matter the age, sex, race or orientation, a single person can find excitement in knowing their city won the title of World Champion.

“Every game has been a watch party with friends and family, and no home’s divided like you get with KU, K-State, Missouri or whoever else.  It’s 100 Percent Royals.  The Royals have brought a great sense of pride to the entire KC community,” Curran said.
