On May 3, from 7 p.m.- 8 p.m., in the SMS Gym, South will host the annual South Area Orchestra Fest.

“It’s when a bunch of students from all around South area, like Indian Woods Middle School and our high school and the elementary schools come here and play different music in the gym,” sophomore Luke Rushik said.

The orchestra students are working to get prepared for the event.

“We sit in class and we practice the music that we are playing,” Rushik said.”I think we are playing three different pieces, one of them we’ve played before, so we’ve prepared that piece pretty well.”

He feels that they are well on their way to being ready.

“I think we’re mostly ready,” he said. “I mean, we still need to work with our rhythm and things like that you know, don’t go too fast while everybody else is going too slow. Other than that I think we’re pretty much prepared.”

Rushik is excited for people to come and watch.

“…it’s gonna be lit!” he said.
