[Rating:3/5]
With such phenomenal actors as Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie starring in a single film you’d expect to see an equally phenomenal piece. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case with their latest film The Tourist.
The plot opens with Elise Ward [Jolie] as she searches for her former lover Alexander Pearce. He instructs her to meet Frank Tupelo [Depp] who is unknowingly a part of her plot to lead the police away from Pearce. From here she uses her seductive charm to thrust Tupelo into the thick of an FBI investigation and into the line of fire on several occasions.
Tupelo’s blind faith in Ward’s will is just one of the many examples of their odd relationship in the film. The two seem to have little chemistry, which makes many of their interactions rather uncomfortable.
On a lighter note, the ambiance of the movie is incredible and the general filming is marvelously done. The action and shooting scenes are gripping and the settings, such as Paris and Venice, hold the viewer’s attention.
Overall the movie’s story line is nothing spectacular, but it is a good film to see for fans of good cinematography and action.
