Every year on Halloween, or the weekday day before, students at South often participate in the KSMS Costume Contest.

“We have several different categories such as best teacher and some other ones and we just really have to thin the stock and choose the best one,” sophomore Colin Wilkinson, a first year member of KSMS.

KSMS picks winners in three categories: Best Individual Student, Best Student Group and Best Faculty Group. Junior Abbagael Johnson has competed in the costume contest each year with her friends.

“I think costume contests are fun because it gives people a chance to express themselves through their costumes, and be whoever they want to be for the day,” Johnson said.

This year the winners were as follows:

Individual:

  1. Julie Cunningham – The Maharelle Sister
  2. Guy Fieri
  3. Zach Greer – David Bowie

Group:

  1. The Traffic Cones
  2. The Fishermen and Mermaids
  3. The Skeletons

Faculty:

  1. Cynthia Hartwell – The Fortune Teller
  2. Science Department – Fruit of the Loom
  3. Math Department – Pumpkin Pie
