Placing leaves on the tree, students glued on almost 100 leaves, each with unique words, to send to those affected by the Pittsburg tragedy.
Written at the base of the tree, the words “Hate Has No Home Here” are meant to send the support and feelings of members of JSU.
In response to the tragedy at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburg, South’s Jewish Student Union put together their own tree of encouragement to send to those affected.
Gathered in the cafeteria, students write letters to the families of Tree of Life Synagogue. Candy was also scattered on tables to help life the spirits of students.
Writing the words “Stay strong” on a paper leaf, senior Tim Nunez helps decorate the tree with encouraging words.
Filling out multiple leaves, senior Anna Burns writes out her supporting words to place onto the tree. Burns invited her own Rabbi, Rabbi Nati, to attend the meeting and help with the tree.
