  • How long have you been dancing?

I have been dancing for 5 or 6 years.

  • What made you start dancing?

There is a church by our house and my cousins were doing this dance thing and they had classes you could take so my mom signed my sister and I up for it for just one semester in the fall, and I ended up really liking it so then I just kept continuing.

  • How old were you when you started dance?

I think I was 11, but most girls start when they are 3 or 4 so it was pretty late compared to other people.

  • Do you choreographing routines?

Yah I like choreographing. It’s really fun to try and figure out new combinations of moves with the music.

  • Do you do private dance classes?

Yes I take dance at a place called Westside Dance Company.

  • What’s your favorite type of dance?

Probably jazz, I really like jazz because it is really energetic and fun to do.

  • Do you like performing? What is your favorite thing about performing?

I think my favorite part of performing is just seeing the crowds reaction to a routine. If it is Hip Hop they usually get really into it if they know the songs. Just seeing how people react to your dances. I think it’s really cool.

  • Do you do any other sports?

I did track this spring which it was my first time doing it but mainly dance.

  • Why do you like dancing?

It just brings me so much joy. I love being able to create your own dances and and performing. I dont know its just what I love to do.

  • What is some advice you have for people that want to start dance?

Don’t think it is too late to start because i kinda started late compared to lots of other girls in dance but just keep trying if you set goals for yourself you will be able to reach them if you work hard enough.

  • What is the scariest thing about dancing?

I think the possibility of failing or messing up when you are performing. Thankfully nothing super big has happened to me yet.

  • Have you ever gotten injured from dancing?

Nothing major yet, but that is my worst fear.

  • Does anyone else in you family dance or has danced?

My Mom did poms in high school but aside from that no one else in my family dances.

  • Do you think about becoming a professional dancer?

Probably not, I just like doing it for now.

  • Do you want to dance in college?

Maybe, all the seniors on pace have been trying out for colleges so it has just made me think about that more. I don’t know if I will be advanced enough by then, but it’s a possibility.
