Jenna Hamilton – Awkward

Beginning

Jenna Hamilton is the awkward teen who seems invisible. No one but her two best friends, Tamara and Ming, seem to know who she is. She is reserved, insecure, and lets people walk all over her. Jenna lets her boyfriend, Matty, keep their relationship a secret because he is way more popular than she is. She lets the meanest girl in school, Sadie, treat her however she wants. And Jenna just lets herself feel inferior to everyone else.

Middle

It doesn’t take long for Jenna Hamilton to become a well known name around school, but not for the reasons she wants. Jenna slips dropping a bottle of pills and breaking her arm, making everyone think she attempted suicide. Realizing that she has nothing to lose, Jenna decides that it’s time to show everyone who she is, instead of letting them decide. Pretty soon Matty’s best friend, Jake, falls in love with Jenna at the same time Matty realizes he doesn’t want to hide their relationship, and suddenly Jenna has two guys fighting over her. An increase in Jenna’s confidence and self image becomes apparent.

End

Jenna has finally stopped letting people take advantage of her. She stops doing what everyone else wants and starts making her own decisions. She no longer lets Matty run their relationship and doesn’t let Sadie get to her. She no longer looked down on herself and is way more sure of herself and goes for what she wants. Jenna starts falling for the new kid, Colin, and finally realizes she deserves someone that appreciates her. However, when she starts bailing on her friends and cheating on Matty we see that maybe Jenna’s new found confidence isn’t all for the best.

She is self-centered, individualistic, but an amazing singer, which she is well aware of. Rachel isn’t interested in relationships and the fact that she doesn’t have many friends doesn’t seem to phase her. She doesn’t care much about her appearance and always dresses like a clean cut “good girl.” Rachel joins the glee club in order to get closer to her dream, and does not hide the fact that she thinks she’s the best.

Middle

Although her reason for joining the glee club wasn’t to make friends, Rachel gets close to the others in glee club and forms relationships with people she never thought she’d have. She starts having feelings for Finn, who is way more popular than she is. Their teacher, Will Schuester, becomes like a father to her, and the entire glee club becomes a family. Rachel starts making room for others to shine and share their talents.

End

As Rachel graduates high school and gets into the New York Academy of Dramatic Arts, the school of her dreams, it is evident how much she has changed. She completely changes her image, starting to wear more makeup and edgier clothing. Rachel is confident in herself and steps out of her comfort zone. She realizes that relationships and friendships are just as important as success
