Have a Magical Day

Some people go out of town for spring break; so what. How about going out of town before spring break to relax and have fun? Spring break is not always about going to the coolest clubs and hottest parties, some people like to spend spring break in a place that has and always make their dreams come true.

“My dad goes to Orlando [Florida] for a business convention every year so my family has gone with him before when I was little. We went this year for Melissa [Schonholz] our foreign exchange student to have the experience too. We also went to Clearwater Beach,” Sophomore Emily Wollard said.

Wollard and Schonholz took an early spring break in the last week of February, “We just went when my dad’s convention was. His company picks the date for the convention and it’s normally around this time so we just had.”

Disney World, located in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, has been open since 1971 by The Walt Disney Company, and through this company a division called the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts was opened.

The Walt Disney Parks and Resorts contains 24 themed resorts, four theme parks, two water parks, and entertainment venues such as Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Magic Kingdom.

“My favorite part was definitely Disney. I haven’t been there since I was little so it was cool to relive my childhood memories as well as seeing all the new stuff they’ve added since I’ve been there,” Wollard said.

One way Disney has kept the world interested is by supplying new additions to the parks. Some of the newer additions include New Fantasyland as a part of Magic Kingdom and the new Art and Animation parks. In recent years, Disney World has been named one of the most visited attractions in the world, with an annual attendance of 52.5 million guests.

“It was also better since I’m older, I can enjoy it more and I was with Melissa and my other friend, so being there with them just added to it. Neither one of them have been there so seeing them experience it was awesome too.”

So how is Disney truly ‘magical?’ Disney came from a short, black and white cartoon show, and has developed into a part of the world that touches people of all races, cultures, and genders. This ‘magic’ may be indescribable for some, but Disney is magical because they develop and utilize some of today’s most advanced technology to bring ideas that were scribbled on a napkin into a lifelike character with a mind of their own that can connect with a person when they were five or fifty years old. Disney is magical because the tradition of hope and wonder runs deep.
