Touring Warped Tour

Punk rock, EDM, and indie bands were put into a setlist for the annual Vans Warped Tour. Warped Tour was held around the world with a quick stop at the Kricket Wireless Amphitheater July 31.

Warped Tour was a touring music festival that was held in parking lots, outdoor amphitheaters, fields, etc. This festival was sponsored by Vans, skateboard and shoe manufacturer, and Vans sponsored Warped Tour since 1995, giving it the name Vans Warped Tour. This festival showcases a diverse lineup of artists including Mayday Parade, Of Mice and Men, The Maine, The Ready Set, Watsky, We the Kings, All Time Low, Anberlin, Echosmith and dozens more.

On the schedule, larger bands such as Mayday Parade and We the Kings performed on the larger stages such as the Journeys Stage and the Warhead Stage towards the front of the amphitheater.

Of the bands observed that day a trend surfaced. Specific stages hosted certain genres and they were also grouped on the band’s following. For example, the Kia Soul Stage held shows that featured mostly EDM and Electronic music, where the Journeys and Warhead stages hosted more indie-rock and punk-rock bands.

With an open stage, wide sound range and crowds that mixed with people passing by, the artist were able to have more intimate shows. Seeing the passion these artists had during their sets was unbelievable but it made their attitude and love for their fans seem more legitimate.

In utter honesty, the music only added to the atmosphere. The people were casual and dressed according to the weather. Although Warped Tour happened to be on one of the hottest days of the summer, the volunteers and staff at the amphitheater made it enjoyable.
