A Magical Night “Under the Stars” with 96.5 The Buzz

Getting through school was the hardest part of that day, knowing that in a few hours I would be mouthing the words to Portugal. The Man’s recent album at Buzz Under the Stars made me not want to participate in anything school related.

When I walked to center of the front row, I felt like it was going to be one of the best concerts I had ever been to. First to play was Portugal. The Man. They played their most popular song first – “Purple Yellow Red and Blue.” A few songs in, they had to announce that they would have to stop playing until the lighting storm passed. Looking up, the sky was this sick, dark, grey color, and it was starting to rain.

After an hour and a half of chanting the name of the bands that were there, playing chicken, and getting soaked, finally, Portugal. The Man returned to the stage with a bang. The lighting was phenomenal, and enhanced the performance exponentially. I’m not going to lie, I was disappointed when they left the stage. Then, Grouplove came on and rocked the stage. Hannah Hooper- the backup singer- wore a leopard print suit and sang, in my opinion, terrifically. At the end, Grouplove and Portugal. The Man collaborated on of the last songs of the night.

Overall, both of the bands did an amazing job. It, in my opinion, was one of the best concerts I have ever been to, and I’ve been to over thirteen. If I could do it again, I would in a heartbeat. Even in the rain, it was terrific.
