Danielle’s Throwback Thursday: “Corona and Lime”

“Corona And Lime” by Shwayze

{4/5}

This music review will be on the 2008 one-hit-wonder “Corona and Lime” by Shwayze. Like the song’s popularity when it first came out, this review will be short and sweet. The song hit billboards in a considerably short amount of time, and never went higher than number 26. With three minutes and 53 seconds of a strange yet enticing backbeat of hip-hop and rock rhythms layered with Shwayze vocals, the lyrics are one of those few that switch perfectly between genres. Did you expect some ordinary song that stuck to one genre? That’d be boring!

There are some downsides to this odd song. First, it’s one of those songs you can listen to on repeat for two days straight when it’s summer and sunshiney, then it’s winter/fall time and you can only stand it once a month. Second… actually, I don’t have a second downside. Maybe that’s why I gave it a 4 out of 5. Here’s a link to it on Soundcloud so you can decide for yourself (and yes, Soundcloud isn’t blocked on the school laptops!), so enjoy and comment what you think.
