Street Chalk Comes to Life

3rd Annual Chalk Art Fair Held At Crown Center

Corida Cooperwood, Staff Writer

Face painting, writing poems, drawing portraits  and making balloon animals were all part of Crown Center’s three-dimensional chalk fair Sept. 6. Chalk painting was originally created in Italy many centuries ago with pastel chalk, on brick concrete. Many of these artists were street painters or street performers. The main idea for the fair was to inspire kids creatively and in a fun atmosphere. Free chalk allowed kids to express themselves and draw random pictures for everyone to see. The event provided a day to remember.
