Making the Switch

Making the Switch

It seems as though cable TV is becoming less and less attractive to many people.  With services like Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime, the need for cable TV is unnecessary and almost cumbersome.  Living in a technological age comes with new forms of entertainment.  Almost everything is online now; streaming content is more portable and easy to access.

Of course many people have heard of Netflix original series.  The most popular include Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, Hemlock Grove and Marco Polo.  Fans of these shows have the entire season available to them at once.  This provides the viewer to watch the episodes at their own pace.  For me and many other Netflix watchers, that is usually in a binge-watching manner.  It’s tempting to power through six seasons of Parks and Recreation and then wonder where all the time goes.  Having a Netflix account gives you a lot of power, but of course, watch responsibly.

Hulu takes a different approach to television entertainment.  Given one season at a time, the viewer can watch weekly for new episodes. The selection may not be as vast as Netflix’s, but its dependability and punctuality make up for it.

Amazon Prime has been in the news recently for awards for its original series, Transparent. Winning two Golden Globes and numerous nominations has given it more publicity.

Overall, new forms of entertainment thrive in society and there is no doubting their functionality and reliability.  The cost of cable is high and getting higher, so why not switch over to services such as these?
