Adopt a dog month

Woof, October is adopt a dog month. Freshman Emma Kemper adopted her dog Bella in October 2013 from Reno Ranch. A couple months before, Kemper’s family had to put down their dog Lucy, so they went to get another dog.

Bella is a American Staffordshire terrier and is currently 2 years old. Kemper rescued 3 of her 5 dogs from the pound.

“Bella is just as sweet as can be. I think we have a special bond because every evening we work on special tricks and go for walks. She has learned sit, shake, lay down, and stay. She only listens to me when I say shake though”. Kemper said.

Kemper got her dog Bella at only 8 weeks old. Bella got her name because they put name in a hat and it picked out the name Bella.

Many animal shelters celebrate adopt a dog month by washing, and reducing the prices of pets. Great Plains SPCA, Kansas City Pet Project, and Wayside Waifs teamed up, and provided homes for pets that were vaccinated, and microchipped for only $25 each.
