Each day, another analyst has been needed to help with problems that students like senior Andrew Keller and librarian Debra O’Brien can’t solve. Shawnee Mission School District has been moving computer analysts through South to keep everything under control.

 “South is having a problem finding a dedicated analyst to stay at our school,” Keller said.

 Other days South doesn’t have an analyst at all, Thursday, Feb. 18 Barb Watkins,  an analyst from Brookridge Elementary, Rosehill Elementary and Indian Woods Middle school, stayed with South for half of the day helping with day-to-day problems, Friday, Feb. 19 Chris King, an analyst from Shawnee Mission West, was here to help.

  “The last two analysts who have been here found outside jobs. For the last five months there hasn’t been a full time analyst here so the district is trying to pull from other places,” King said.

Three analysts worked at South during the past semesters, one has taken a higher district level job, the two other analysts went into the business world.

 “I believe they are waiting till testing is over before searching for a steady analyst, they will want a part time analyst until then,” O’Brien said.

 Majority of problems students have are easy to fix and take little time to get students back to learning.

 “Small things sure, but most of the problems can’t be solved without a steady analyst,” O’Brien said.

 Students and teachers alike are in need of an analyst in ways that will affect them in the long term.

 “They are moving all these analysts around through all the high schools until the Kite app problem gets situated,” O’Brien said. “It is extremely important at the high schools. If a student has trouble with a computer it needs to be done right away. Because they will be missing class time. We won’t be able to do anything to help them. It wastes too much time without an analyst.”  

 Until the time where South has their steady analyst they will have to work out their few problems with help of other schools’ analyst.
