I reviewed The 1975’s new album “I like it when you sleep for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it” track by track to let you in on what the songs are about and which ones are my personal favorites.

  1. The 1975 – A familiar sound starts the album, The 1975 but reworked to have a chorus of what sounds like a concert crowd singing along with the track. The suspense is built with a break in the song and it flows right into Love Me.
  2. Love Me – The most upbeat from the album and catchiest, their first single released off the album sets the mood for the rest.
  3. UGH! – Who knew a song about a drug comedown could be so good and upbeat?
  4. A Change of Heart – This one is really groovy. Also has some really solid lines.
  5. She’s American – Not a huge fan of this one. The chorus is really kitschy, the verses are a little bit better.
  6. If I Believe You – My favorite track is more solemn. The heartfelt piece that talks about being atheist and having a conversation with God in a rhetorical sense.
  7. Please Be Naked – This one blew me away, something I’d never expect from The 1975. A beautiful piano ballad and that’s about it.
  8. Lostmyhead – Another one of their mostly instrumental songs perfect for driving with all the windows down and pretending you’re going in slow motion.
  9. The Ballad of Me and my Brain – My favorite part about this song is Matty’s shaky vocals that come off as “screamy”
  10. Somebody Else – Their fourth single release is so relatable for after a breakup when you see your past lover with someone new and you’re totally over them but it still hurts seeing them move on.
  11. Loving Someone – This one has the vibe to be a modern aged teen anthem. It empowers me to make life better and love someone.
  12. I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it – The title track doesn’t disappoint. It’s easy going and smooth, a good representation of the album as a whole.
  13. The Sound – This one gets better everytime I listen to it and it’s one of my favorites to listen to live.
  14. This Must be My Dream – The intro music to this is the reason I put this one on repeat. When the beat kicks in, I’m hooked.
  15. Paris – This makes me feel like I’ve been to Paris and I’m now longing to go to Paris again with the love of my life.
  16. Nana – This song is about Matty’s grandmother, it’s very sweet and solemn.
  17. She Lays Down – Ending on a more serious note, She Lays Down is very sad and I think you’ll just have to listen to it for yourself to feel all of the feelings it gives you.
