The 2016 MLB season has been nothing less than a wild ride for the Kansas  City Royals. There has been some classic Royal’s magic throughout the season but still the young team continues to be the underdog. A position they’re used to by now. The first half of the season was the most inconsistent stretch of baseball for the Royals since the early part of the 2014 season. Many factors have played into the rocky start, losing Mike Moustakas to a brutal ACL tear May 22 immediately set the tone for the oncoming season. Since then the Royal’s knew they had to play at the highest level possible to fill the void. Pitching was also rough towards the first half of the season but since Ian Kennedy has began to settle in and find his groove and Danny Duffy has blown up with an incredible stat line worthy of Cy Young award consideration, once again pitching is a strong-suit for the Royals. With Wade Davis coming off of a 15 day inactive list from an elbow injury our bullpen is back in great shape as well.

The Royals are on a hot streak right now winning winning 16 of there last 23 games which is a stunning turn-around. Alex Gordon has come to life and in All-Star form with a whopping 12 hits in just ten games and bringing in 11 runs in the same time. Although aside from Gordon’s stretch of above-average play, he has had an extremely disappointing season. Considering how well the Royals have managed to do without Mike Moustakas and Alex Gordon’s lower than usual level of play, it’s fun to toy with the idea of how great this team would be had they not lost they’re star third basemen and Gordon played like the all-star he is.
