For lots of students, going home to work on homework just isn’t appealing or doesn’t work. Many coffee shops, bakeries or places to eat offer free wifi, and a quiet place to study or get homework done.
“I like Mclain’s market because its cozy, has a good atmosphere and good food,” junior Carina Swanson said.
Mclain’s is located at 107th and Roe, close to South. Mclain’s offers bakery items such as muffins, cookies and scones. They also offer sandwiches, salads and other small snacks to fuel your after-school study sesh. 
“Scooters because there is never a big rush so it’s always quiet and close by,” said senior Liz
Scooters is also close to South, located at 107th and Roe. They offer coffee drinks, smoothies and bakery items like cookies, cinnamon rolls and bagels. 
“[Blackdog] is a chill enough to study, but people are also talking so you can collaborate with others easily,” said senior Kate Herrmann. 
Blackdog coffeehouse is located just west of 87th and Quivira offering coffee drinks and a variety of bakery items such as croissants, coffee cake and energy bites. Lunch items like sandwiches, soups and salads are also available for purchase.
Panera is located at College and Metcalf offering a wide variety of bakery items, soups, sandwiches, salads and drinks like coffee, tea and smoothies. Panera offers a rewards system called a MyPanera that you can sign up for with your phone number and earn points each time you purchase something there.
There are many Starbucks in the South area but two popular locations are 95th & Antioch and 95th & Mission. Starbucks offers a variety of coffee drinks and teas. They serve treats like cake pops, cookies and donuts and more nutritious snacks like a ham and swiss panini, grilled cheese and chipotle chicken wrap. Starbucks Rewards is a rewards system that gives you points when you purchase a food or drink item sing the Starbucks app.
