journalism sound  The people were silent but there bodies were not. Imagine sitting in class for an hour and a half listening to someone else speak. Brutal. One student after another quickly gets up, brushes off “the stuff on their shirt,” gets their note cards ready and boom they’re off.

“Our research project was Meals on Wheels,” a student said.

The girl got up but didn’t brush anything off. She seemed confident in her walk. Once the note cards went behind her back she was ready. She tells the class all about her project.

To the left it seemed as if there was a dance party going on. One girl was tapping her feet profusely. The other was softly tapping his cheeks. Then you have the ones who are prying their eyes open trying to stay awake through all the talking. The girl concludes her presentation and everyone claps.

The boy next up hastily taps his note cards against the desk along with his feet. He and his partner seemed to be dressed up for the occasion. One was wearing a dress shirt, tie and nice slacks. The other was wearing a dress shirt and tan khakis.

“My name is Andrew Crawford and this is Sam Waris. Our research project was about how Catholic charities helps those in need in the Kansas City metro area,” Crawford said.

As Crawford went on with his speech so did the chewing of his gum. Chew, chew, chew. At this point half the students are already checked out and done with class, that includes Andrew. The longer the presentation goes on the more heads start to sink deeper into their hands.
