Pep Assembly on Friday

Kate Anderson, A&E Editor

This Friday, students and staff of South will be coming together for a pep assembly.  After third hour, students should report to the gym and sit with their corresponding grade.  The assembly is called for a variety of reasons.  With the start of winter sports comes more excitement for the student body. Sports that have started conditioning include girls basketball, boys basketball and wrestling.

Each year, StuCo holds the canned food drive.  Last year the goal was far-fetched at a whopping 20,000 cans and it was not made.  This year, the goal of 12,000 was attained with 14,416 cans.  Senior Emily Wollard is the student body president and coordinator of the canned food drive.  She believed that this year’s drive went so much better than last year. At the assembly, there will be canned food drive related activities and skits.

Senior Mimi Deluca is a pep exec and has helped coordinate the assembly.

“[Students] can expect a lot of teacher and student involvement and some special activities that you haven’t seen before having to do with the canned food drive,” Deluca said .

Wollard said the assembly is not something you want to miss.

“The assembly on Friday is going to be the best assembly there has ever been,” said Wollard.
