Transfer Students Keeping Their Grades Up

Keeping up grades can be hard for some students, but if transfer students don’t keep good grades, they will be asked to go back to their old school.

The things that the office administrators look for in letting transfer students stay are  grades, attendance and discipline.

Each year, South gains about 15 transfer students. Associate principal Nicholas Platko thinks it is a great idea to have the new policy.

“The policy really encourages transfer students to keep up their GPA since they will have to go back to their home school if not. So it’s a win win if they just keep [grades] up,” Platko said.

For some students, it is hard to keep up with grades especially those who are playing sports. Although for most transfer students, it is easier to get good grades at South than their last school. Transfer students and  sophomores Nate Baker, Tanner Agpoon and Max McKnight agree.

“It isn’t that hard to keep up my grades because it’s easier to get my work done here than it is at Rockhurst. We had to write around three essays a week,” McKnight said.

McKnight transferred to South the beginning of sophomore year, while Baker and Agpoon transferred second semester.

While the transfer policy seems to be working out as planned and is helping more students keep up their grades in order to keep attending South.
