Turn, leap, jump, dance. Freshman Mia Neaderhiser has been at Miller Marley dance studio six out of seven days a week for four to five hours a day. She has been on her tip toes for 10 years and counting. Though she has been doing dance for so long, she still enjoys it to this day.

“I love learning new dances and performing them for my friends and family. Jazz is my favorite. I like the music we dance too,” Neaderhiser said.

Neaderhiser travels all around the United States to compete and perform for others. Her favorite place she went was Disney World. Her dance company leaped through downtown Disney for many to watch. They had a once in a lifetime experience to learn dances from Mary Poppins and performed them with the Disney crew as they learned new dances together.

“This was such a fun experience that I will never forget about, almost a dream,” Neaderhiser said.

Mia does not only dance at Miller Marley, but this year she danced with the JV Pacesetters. The Pace team practiced in first hour, but around this time of year they have arrive at 7 a.m. and go through first hour. Neaderhiser just had tryouts and made the Varsity Pacesetters for 2016.17.

“Pacesetters is more fun and Miller Marley is more competitive and intense,” Neaderhiser said.

Neaderhiser has met one of her best friends, freshman Cara Torchia, in Pace and Miller Marley. They have bonded so much throughout this year with performing together.

“Cara has become one of my best friends this year. I have so much fun dancing together,” Neaderhiser said.

Not only does Neaderhiser do Miller Marley and Pace, but she also has school on top of that. She takes school  seriously. She strives for straight As and gets them by staying caught up with her work and not procrastinating. Even if going to bed around 1 a.m. is what it takes to finish her homework she will stay up.

“I just do my homework no matter what, even if I do not have time, I will make time. I need to get good grades and I know if I do not do my homework it will show in my grades. I go to bed around 11:30-12 on a good night,” Neaderhiser said.
